About

Buddie is the long-running songwriting outlet of Philadelphian-turned-Vancouverite Dan Forrest, now a fully realized 4-piece band crafting sharp, emotionally resonant grunge pop with a conscience. Known for their infectious melodies and lyrical themes rooted in environmental and social justice, Buddie blends the heavy and the heartfelt to ask big questions about modern life—and still leaves you humming.

After making waves with their debut LP Diving (2020), praised by Spotify, Bandcamp, and WXPN, Buddie entered a prolific phase, recording dozens of new songs before Forrest’s move west to pursue a graduate degree in sustainability. In Vancouver, a new lineup emerged and quickly made its mark, sharing stages with Built to Spill (Sled Island), Dead Soft, and more while being spotlighted on Exclaim!’s “Eh! List” and hitting #1 on CiTR 101.9 FM’s charts.

Their 2023 sophomore LP Agitator dove into themes of mutual aid, healthy communication, and late-capitalist anxiety, with a standout contribution from Al Menne (Great Grandpa) and featured coverage from Under the Radar, Atwood Magazine, FLOOD Magazine, and Austin Town Hall.

In 2024, Buddie released the standalone single “Impatient” and hit the road across Canada, showcasing their most collaborative work yet. Now, the band returns in 2025 with their third LP, Glass, an 8-song, 25-minute grunge pop case study of city life in the imperial core, out this fall via Crafted Sounds.

Glass filters collective dread through fuzzed-out riffs and sugary hooks, landing somewhere between Ovlov and the Beths. It’s a record about inequality, consumerism, individualism, and the longing for real community—wrapped in songs that stick to your ribs. Singles “Stressed in Paradise” and “In the Glass Shell” unpack the emotional toll of gig work, doomscrolling, and the fallacy of escape—delivered through Buddie’s signature bubblegrunge lens.

With another slate of tour dates planned for Fall 2025, Buddie continues to evolve—writing songs that examine the systems we live in while crafting melodies that stay stuck in your head.
