About

Since 2016 Crafted Sounds has been an independent music endeavor run by Connor Murray and others in their spare time. Fostered by the DIY music community of South Oakland (Pittsburgh) in the late 2010s, the label put out its initial releases, booked its first shows, and established core relationships that carried the music forward. Over the years physical formats slowly transitioned from tape-only to the occasional vinyl record or CD. Not to mention, operations grew to account for things like digital and physical distribution, in-house PR, web design, larger bookings, and a greater regional emphasis. From Fall 2022 to Summer 2024 the label was based in Washington D.C., contributing to the historic scene there, before returning to PA.
